Visiting Cyprus in autumn is a great opportunity to attend adventurous inland excursions to villages and vineyards and witness the golden leaves which create a magnificent and imposing color-changing atmosphere in the mountains. Even during these months the sun still shines brightly and the fresh breeze blowing through the trees is cooler.
The island has a longstanding tradition of winemaking which gives guests the chance to visit a variety of wineries and wine growing regions that produce the worlds’ oldest named wine still in production, ‘Commandaria’. Guests can discover several glorious wine routes and visit traditional villages, starting from the cool Troodos mountain range, to the beautiful stretch between Limassol and Paphos and rural areas of Larnaca and Nicosia.
Autumn in Cyprus is the season of many festivals including amongst others the famous Limassol wine festival, various drama and music festivals, classical recitals and the fiestas that celebrate the rich agriculture produce of Cyprus, noting the carob and the olive. Numerous villages and towns have open days and craft markets where the processing of the carob and olive crops are displayed to the public, an opportunity which enhances Cyprus’ traces of culture and tradition.
When it comes to visiting the historical and cultural beauty of Cyprus during the autumn months, the weather is favorable for travellers wanting to see the famous Ancient Mosaics in Paphos and the Kourion Theatre in Limassol, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
