Top 4 National Parks in Cyprus await to be explored

Published on April 09, 2015

Given its relatively compact size, Cyprus rewards those with a sense of wanderlust. Within an hour or so drive you can leave the beach and find yourself exploring a cool mountain monastery or wandering the streets of a remote village or of an ancient Roman city. Four national parks and nature reserves awaits to be explored covering several hectares of magnificent beauty.

Troodos National Park is Cyprus most visited park with four separate nature reserves, several picnic sites, three campsites and ten nature trails covering over 57 kms.

1

Akamas Peninsula , is one of the island’s most remote areas which can be accessed only on foot or via mountain bike, trail bike or 4WD. The whole area is something of the heaven for wildlife and attracts walkers, mountain bikers and off-road drivers. Among the flora and fauna are 39 of Cyprus endemic plants, 160 or more varieties of birds and sixteen types of butterfly.

2

Petra tou Romiou National Forest Park , home to one of Cyprus most photogenic beaches, this is the place where Aphrodite the Goddess of love and beauty was born. The area covers 350 hectares of woodland and coast and is approximately 15 kms away from Pafos.

3

Macheras National Forest Park , is the Troodos park little brother covering 4523 hectares at the Eastern end of the Troodos range, and notable for its unspoilt and heavenly forest.

Drakos DMC and its team of experts are ready to guide you and assist you in experiencing birdwatching, climbing and hiking, cycling, fishing, horse-riding, skiing across the national parks with attention to detail and care.
