Boasting 10,000 years of history, a rich cultural heritage and Mediterranean cultivations of olives and vines, a guest to the island can be spoilt for choice when it comes to experiencing local food and cultural. Here’s some of the best activities we recommend.
- Wine seminar exploring local wineries
Cyprus has a wine tradition of over 4,000 years and has an extensive variety of wines to match. A wine seminar is the perfect experience to turn you into a wine connoisseur. Explore three of Cyprus’ best wineries within the Limassol and Paphos region, learn about local and international grape varieties as well as how to match the ideal wine with food. Don’t forget to try the local Commandaria and Zivania.
- Zorba Dance Workshop
This activity includes dancing lessons of the famous Sirtaki act – Zorba the Greek. Guests will have the chance to learn and practice the steps of the famous dance. The second half of the workshop will be a competition performance. Our team together with the judging committee and the instructors will be voting for the winners. Probably the most fun workshop ever!
- Cooking workshop
Join this exciting, hands-on cooking workshop with a local star chef, the owner of an award-winning restaurant. This workshop is a unique opportunity to experience Cyprus through its many flavours. Tap into the essence of Cypriot traditions and hospitality through food and local wines while enjoying the beautiful weather and pleasant environment! During the workshop our guests will cook a five course menu and then enjoy their dinner combined with the best wines.
- The Olive Park
Olive trees were seen as a source of wealth and wisdom in the ancient world and even today; olive oil, as a staple of the Mediterranean diet is seen as a super food for health and longevity. At the olive park our guests can see the olive press and follow the procedure of oil making through the extraction process. The unique museum on site features olive oil extraction methods of the past and various items related to the storage and uses of the olive oil. Guests have the opportunity to compare the extraction methods of the past to the modern process of the ecological olive mill.
- Beekeeper for a day
We will visit a beekeeping farm where our guests will have a unique chance to learn more about the honey preparation process and become a beekeeper for the day! Suits will be provided to enable our guests to inspect the hives. Spot the Queen Bee and the Drones, observe the Bee Workers during their effort, browse through the Honey and Pollen store rooms, see the eggs inside the cells and learn how important organization is for the welfare of these social insects. We then move on to the honey extraction and bottling laboratory and taste different types of honey.
- Mosaic Workshop
Mosaics are an integral part of Cypriot art and culture for over 4,000 years. Our mosaic experts will welcome the guests in a quiet set-up for this workshop. Each participant will receive all necessary materials to create their own mosaic which they can take home as an everlasting memento from Cyprus! Guests are invited to create their own mosaic with their company’s logo or inspired by Greek mythology, Cyprus history or their own imagination. Examples will be on hand for inspiration. A jury will judge the mosaics and during the guests’ gala dinner the winner will be announced and receive the grand prize.
